While in a bookstore searching for a birthday present for a certain someone the other day, I decided to buy myself a present as well. I bought A. A. Milne's 'When We Were Very Young,' from which my mum used to read to me when I was very young. So now, partially in imitation of Peggy's haiku series, I've decided to occasionally share with you all some of the little poems from this book.
Now, quickly, before I have to run for the bus, I shall begin:
***
Happiness
John had
Great Big
Waterproof
Boots on;
John had a
Great Big
Waterproof hat;
John had a
Great Big
Waterproof
Mackintosh -
And that
(Said John)
Is
That.
***
I suppose it would be a more appropriate moment for that if it were raining right now, but that was the first poem I came to that I remembered and wasn't too long to write down quickly. More to come!
