I appreciate all the comments I had about the class acceleration that I had to decide on.

This is how it turned out:

The teacher and guidance counselor (who tested him) both agreed that he was gifted and well beyond the kindergarten level. They'd watched him in gym class to see how his motor skills were, and see how his size compared to the 1st graders. They said he was right on board with that. The librarian made some puns to the class and Noah was the only one who didn't have a glazed, blank look. He actually "got it".

He will start in the gifted program next year, but we didn't accelerate him. He's still a kindergartner, and we're all happy with that. We decided that the school would provide enrichment for him in the areas where he was advanced and I think that was the best thing we could do for him. The adjustment and social aspects of it were just not settled with me when it came to moving him.

Thanks for your input.. it really made me think in different ways that I hadn't been able to come up with.
