Gas prices have skyrocketed thanks to Hurricane Ike. More accurately, it's thanks to oil speculators, greedy gas stations and crazy people who spread rumors that "gas will go to $5 before the end of the weekend." Seriously, there's one station in town that's still at $3.79 (a smart move on the owner's part), and cars were backed out into 15th Street (a pretty major road) waiting to get it. The highest station in town (Parade) has jacked regular unleaded up to $4.29, and I think that's part of what's fueling (pardon the pun) the panic.
Ashley and I are talking about carpooling to work. That's a sure sign gas prices are really starting to hurt.
