Can you help me with this algebra stuff?

Nov 24, 2008 23:41

I have been trying to figure out how to work out these questions for a while now and im just not getting it so im hoping someone out here knows algebra and can help me..

Im not looking for the answers.. I have those available to me.. I need the process on how to figure these out as my book has these questions and not on how to do them (only simpler ones)

Ok so here goes..any exponent will be marked like X^2

1. x^2 + 2x = 8x - 9

2. x^2 - 4x= 25 - 4x

3. 6 = 5x^2 - 8

(I worked this one out but got the answer as x= 4/5 , -2 and apparently its supposed to be: x = -4/5, 2 , I cant figure out how this is wrong but it is when it comes to my negative signs..

any help would be incredibly appreciated.
