One of my uncles is very very much like Douglas, Sydney, and Clark -- he uses endearments/pet names the way other people use profanity: often, and without really thinking about how they sound to other people.
Needless to say, this is always very very odd to me. Particularly when he does things like call me "sweetiebuns". Because _that_ is very much something that you call, say, your wife, not your niece. It's just bizarre, but apparently just how he is... As far as I can tell, anyhow. *Blinkblink* I really wish he'd go for things like 'cupcake' and 'pudding', because I like those better... It really doesn't help that I've never been _anyone's_ 'sweetiebuns'. (Of course, if I had, that would be a VERY private nickname that never saw the light of day outside of, say, bed. Because it's just... Well, look at it! It makes me want to wash my hands or something.)
what did you call me?,
who talks like that?,
i'm the only one who cares,
raaaaaandom,
it's just me
