The first is a couple of icons for the Amazon debacle - the idea is shamelessly stolen from ThemHooligans' recent GoS icon, and features Pete and Carl of the band The Libertines. (I know NOTHING about them; I made them to fulfill a request from a Libertines-loving lass on BasicBases, using pictures she'd gathered/linked to. I just cropped 'em down and reuploaded 'em and the Lib lovers were thrilled. Anyhow.) I wanted to make more, but I ended up running out of time and patience, so you get two. The file name is taken from the NIN song of the same name, since I've had the chorus stuck in my head for the last ten hours or so. Whee. Icons!
and
Anyone may freely use them without credit or attribution -- I just slapped some text on and saved 'em as an animated gif. Unless you are one of the Anointed Few (you know who you are), you must save them to your hard drive and then upload 'em to your own server. And yeah, I can tell if someone's leaching my bandwidth. *waves a hand* Enjoy, or whatever.
The second thing I'm putting behind a cut, because it's A) a poem and B) kind of odd. Not bad, just...unusual.
[untitled]
I carry a secret
under my skin and
through it
ink and cold metal
meaningless to most
but speaking to us,
between us
And when I see it
when my clothes pull tight
over it and
the ghost-fingers of
the cousin of pain
touch me
I smile because I
can hear words
in every beat of
my heart
hear what they
can't
hear what I've always
wanted
I belong, I belong, I belong
and no one else knows...

Yeah. I have NO idea where that came from. It would fit Hanoki, except that he doesn't hide his tattoos or piercings and everyone knows he belongs (and to whom) anyhow. It's not autobiographical, either, since while I do have secrets, I'm an uninked heathen and all of my plain-vanilla piercings are in my ears. (I have no non-vanilla piercings, either, though I've been thinking about getting one... I'm not going to talk about it here, though.)
I like it. It's been a really long time since I wrote any poetry, and I prefer poetry like this, that doesn't actually have any deep personal connection to Me. (I did my Bad Poetry phase in high school, so I'm over that. Thanks be to God!) One of the cooler things about this poem is that it popped into my head in an almost-finished state -- I don't recall that happening for me before. *Shrug*
