I'm particularly irritated by the whole "you can't 'cause you're a GUUUUUUUUURL" argument.

If I am only "allowed" to write utter shit -- Twilight, Bridget Jones' Diary, The Devil Wears Prada, AKA chick lit and paranormal romance -- then I am going to fucking kill someone.
I cannot write shit. I have TRIED, and it wasn't pretty. I've tried reading what I'm "supposed" to like, to "want" to write, and it's fucking disgusting. And all because I don't have a fucking dick!
Apparently, writing anything BUT chick lit and paranormal romance is okay if you're a fucking MAN.
I am trying so very very hard not to just start screaming over on my Authorial Blog, but it's really difficult.
On the other hand, this will make it easier for me to quietly assume a female pen name for my prospective YA books... I've been trying to figure out what I want it to be. I suppose I could go with Julianne, which at least incorporates a few letters of my real name and calls back to Connor J; I've also considered Anne Noel. Or maybe I'll go with Delia Thomas, which will amuse me and at least one other person...
I don't know. All I do know is that I am not in a place where I can be rational about this, right now.
