So... News!

- Sold another story. YES. DSP said "we'll take your boy who is sometimes a bird and the grocery clerk he loves" and I said "EEEEEEEEE-- I mean here's your signed contract now gimme my editor I mean I can't wait to hear back from you lovely people!"

I love this story so much. I'll probably be sick of it when I'm done with the edits, but right now I'm just floating on cloud twelve. *Bounce*

- Found out that my aunt wants me in Seattle by the end of August. Guess who's going to be in town? Or at least nearby, anyway? (And why couldn't they play Qwest field, anyway? Are the Sounders in town or something?) *Points at icon* That's right. I am getting me a ticket to see MCR live, and I'm going to go enjoy myself, damn it. Even if I do end up sitting somewhere in the back of the venue.

I chickened out of going to see Adam Lambert, but not this time. I will go, buy myself a T-shirt or something, and I will sing along as loud as I can. I just wish The Architects were going to be there, too.

- Also, the NOLA trip is still on. I was thinking about taking the train, because the less I interact with TSA the better, but if I go cheaply, I won't be happy/comfortable and if I'm comfy/happy I can't afford it. (Even if I only take a "roomette" on the longest leg each way, it comes out to $2000. It's comparable to a round-trip flight to go in a reserved coach seat, but for 70 hours on a train with NO privacy outside of the time I spend in the (public) bathrooms? That's a HUGE dealbreaker.) I'm going to call Amtrak to see if it's possible to use the USA Railpass and then tack on a roomette for significantly less, but I suspect that's a no.

- Speaking of the NOLA trip, apparently I am not going to have a roommate. Or at least not one that I know. I'll have to see what the hotel's policy on singles are -- if they have a single supplement rate, or if they'll want me to pay the full price -- and then try to decide if I want to share with a stranger.

I really don't like the phrase "[blah] dollars based on double occupancy", because I can NEVER tell if that means [blah] per person or [blah] divided by two. When I worked for the big travel-related corporation that was just SURE that people would know from my voice that I had pink hair, it meant [blah] per person, making the total price [blah] times two. My mother says that in the case of my hotel, it's [blah] divided by two, making it much more affordable. Given the hotel's location and apparent fanciness, I have a hard time believing that they'd charge only 1/2 [blah] per night per person.

...And that's about all the news that is news, so. I really should get back to pushing myself through writing this story I agreed to write. It involves all sorts of things I love! You'd think it would be easy. I'm rewarding myself for getting work done on it by switching over and writing something else for a little bit.

Also, I need/am planning to write reviews for the stuff I've read recently, starting with TBoS and TSC and working forward. Especially since Reesa gave me a nice little review and even asked for more Caled! Aw.

my chemical romance, me me me, writing in general, my baby loves a bunch of authors, things to do in seattle, mcr, whee!, awesome, things that are awesome
