If you're going to blather on about how as a writer you're a custodian of the language and it's up to you to keep it pure (or whatever)? You damn well better make your argument in a grammatically-perfect way. Otherwise, I'm going to laugh at you and be very very tempted to tell you to say that again when you learn to write.
