Happy New Year!
There are raft guides in the kitchen making lasagna and pawning bad costume jewelry off on us residents.  You should see the earrings I'm wearing! We are talking politics, because on Tuesday I'm driving up to the granite state to vote for Barack Obama. If you remember, I like Obama because his name rhymes with Osama, and this is a good addition to any rap.
I got one of these and it is growing like gangbusters! It's an Oxalis regnellii 'Atropurpurea.' It's beautiful! Right now it has four stalks of flowers and four more on the way. It's a cheery addition to my plant collection.
Work is quiet in January and February -- I'm looking at 15 hours a week, which means being hella poor (just wrote a check for 450 bucks for an oil delivery!), but also the chance to decide what I want to DO for the next two months. I'm tempted to get in my car and drive someplace warm, but that's sadly not a logical option. I'm looking instead at house cleaning, because it brings in more money than my real job.
We have two roommates gone, and one new. It's different, but good. This house has great energy. I love living here, despite the fact our house has the WORST heat retention, and requires all sorts of tricks to keep our precious, bloody-expensive heat inside.  But anyways, our new roommate Nate is wonderful, looks like Eminem, drives a 200 dollar car whose engine shakes (it's a sight to see), and he claims he can make a "bangin'" omelette.
I'm obsessed with Goxxip's album "Standing in the Way of Control," which is funny, since I've known Goxxip (or Gossip, since the spelling is changing as they hit the mainstream) since 2002-3, but never been interested before. They have a song featured in the season five premiere of The L Word and when I heard it I thought "ooh, that's a catchy tune, who wrote that?" and lo and behold -- Goxxip! You should check them out, and also check out Season Five of The L Word, which is a fabulous, fabulous show. I have the first season, and am constantly shoving the first disc on people. Viva femme, rich LA lesbians with ten tons of drama!
Dominic gets back into town tomorrow and hopefully Lyni will be home....I am looking forward to seeing my dear ones. Life is good.
