Back from a much-needed weekend away, reconnecting with my chosen family, or one branch of it at least. Many thanks to
cleasai for taking care of Kiska and the cats while I was away.
. . .
And now, it is Last Author Standing voting time again - deadline is today at 5pm. Normally I like to give people a bit more advance notice than that, but the stories hadn't been posted yet as of when I left, and I didn't have internet access where I was staying.
So:
stories and voting post can both be found here.
Only four stories now - we're getting down to the very end, which means three things:
- it won't take you long at all to read through them,
- the overall quality is very good (making it very difficult to choose, especially on one for "least well written"), and
- those of us still in the running are incredibly nervous because at this stage, just being a good writer isn't enough to be sure of staying in - everyone left is good, so the outcomes are much less certain.
So please, please, please, go read, go vote! Anyone with an LJ account is eligible to vote.
Really, even if I end up getting eliminated this time (though of course I hope I won't), I have no regrets at all about joining this contest - it's been such an amazing experience for me. The recurring deadlines have pushed me to write more stories in a shorter time span than probably any time in my life since university, and I'm really happy with a lot of them - I suspect I'll eventually be polishing some of them up to submit to various places for possible publication. And the feedback after each challenge has also been really helpful.
There will be a new round starting after this one ends, and I'd very much encourage any writers out there who want an opportunity to hone your skills and get useful feedback to sign up.
