I think I was most enfuriated with my father when he told me that the reason that I argued so fervently about the rights of gay people was that I was in college and ready to fight for any trendy cause that came up. He did not understand that I was not fighting for the rights of gay people. I'm a long time out of college, a full-grown adult, now; I am still willing to defend, to the death, the equal rights of human beings.
