I decided today that I would make my first trip to the local dominican salon. My friends have been giving me grief over the fact that I have been faithfully going to the hair cuttery for years. They worked for me because they're open 7 days, don't require an appointment, and my hair has been growing and healthy since I started. I'm feeling like 2009 needs to be the start of many new things, so why not start at the top?
My surgery and recovery went off pretty much as I expected. QB opted to go on last-minute job interviews instead of making sure I made it through the procedure all right, then got upset that I called my dad and asked him for help.
It was an in-and-out procedure, but because of my history of asthma and a lot of bleeding (that required the placement of two things that looked like tampons up my nose), I stayed overnight. It was fucking miserable. I was on morphine for pain and my roommate was on her deathbed. A priest came Saturday morning to offer her her last Holy Communion. The next morning, the other doc at my ENT's practice came and unceremoniously yoinked the packing from my nose. Two scripts, some saline and McDonald's later, I was home for a week.
With the exception of my birthday on Sunday, not a single person came by or called to check on me (text and twitter folks, exclcuded). In fact, QB qas vacationing on the Jersey coast. I had a feeling that would be the case, after what happened in the summer, so I was well-prepared with food and entertainment. I baked a cheesecake for the first time (it was great, btw) and had breakfast each and every morning.
Friday, the stitches and splints came out, along with a lot of other stuff I couldn't blow out (it was forbidden) while I was home. I'm breathing comfortably through my nose right now, not snoring at night, and Dr. G says it'll only get better with my use of saline rinses and nasal steroids.
Hope you all had a happy Christmas, Yule, Hannukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus... And continue the same through the new year.
