I had a fabulous time downstate. Thanks to everyone who contributed to that. On Tuesday, we went to the Tom Petty concert. On the way to the show, Travis and I were listening to a Fleetwood Mac mix cd that I made a while ago. On it I have a song that Stevie Nicks sang with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers called "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around." It's a great song and I remarked to Travis how I had been daydreaming about how awesome it would be if someone like Stevie was a guest performer at the show. Well, guess what? She showed up and sang several songs with the band! That made up for all the crap that goes along with going to see a concert and sitting on the lawn and everything. Seriously, she was amazing. The whole night was great. I love Tom Petty and I'm glad I got the tickets and went.

Wednesday we went to the lake and had dinner with the Pohly/Franzens. It was a really good time. Travis got to sail and it was nice catching up with everyone. Logan and Erin, if you're reading, I'm really sorry for the short notice on not staying the weekend. Hopefully we'll talk soon. Anyway, being at the lake was fun and it was nice to see everyone (and to tease Ian about teaching Erin how to boss him around!)

Thursday we had lunch with Stefany at Olive Garden and shopped at TJ Maxx and Borders. Then Trav and I went to Jellybean's, where I traded in a bunch of junk for some really great dvd's. Then we headed home and had a quiet night with Uncle Mike and Aunt Brenda. She made a fabulous Southern supper, the kind I miss so much, and then Travis and I watched a home movie after they went to bed. It included tape from Christmas '90 and '94. My dad was briefly on the '94 segment and it was a little hard to see him and hear his voice. I miss him a lot, and everytime I go downstate I'm confronted by memories. I didn't go to the cemetery while I was home. I don't think I really wanted to, but I probably should have.

Friday we lolled around all day until Deb and Rocco arrived, around which time my Aunt Brenda said we could all stay at the house over the weekend because she didn't think we should sleep out in a tent when it's been getting so cold at night. Total surprise to me, but go with the flow. I don't know who knows or cares, but there hasn't been too much open door policy at their house for guests... so I was grateful. It made the trip a lot simpler. Friday night we went to Imlay City with Stef and her people and sang karaoke. I believe I made a fool out of myself, but that's what karaoke is for, right? We sang a lot of fun things, including Love Shack, Family Tradition, Folsom Prison Blues, Like a Virgin, and I sang Coal Miner's Daughter. I was a little tipsy... so you know how that is.

Saturday was Cedar Point. The rides were good, except Demon Drop which was a waste of time. We hit up the Raptor, Mantis, Millenium Force, Mean Streak, the Corkscrew, and some small things. That took us all day though and none of use went on that crazy new Top Thrill Dragster thing they have. I will never go on it. It looks terrifying. We're all very proud of Rocco that he went on the Millenium Force and glad he liked it :) We were at Cedar Point from 12:30-ish til around midnight. So really a full day. I cut my foot walking across the parking lot and we had to find some stuff to take care of it, but it's better now. We got back to Fenton around 3 a.m. and went to bed.

Sunday Travis left to go to his folks' house and prepare for his Colorado jaunt to see his brother get married, and Debi and Rocco and I went to Great Lakes Crossing. I bought some really cute clothes at Forever 21 and a great new pair of jeans at American Eagle, and my co-worker just told me I look like I've lost weight. So the jeans must be better than I thought :) Drive back was not so great, but it never is. I'm glad to be home though. Hope I didn't bore anyone with my recap.
