I've never done a fannish charity drive before because I'm a lazy, awful person about finishing things. Several people including dear friends already hate me for not finishing promised things. So I hope this isn't gauche.
But something about this just hits me very close to home and I will finish something come hell or high water.
As many of you might know, I've had a longtime fascination with the art and culture. I've visited Japan, had friends from there, friends who lived there. Those of you who have been following for a long time know that while I visiting my best friend in Japan we found out that her mother, a woman I knew well and that I loved and respected, had passed suddenly and unexpectedly. A profound experience anyway, let alone in a foreign country, the first time I stepped out of the western perspective. Most recently, I've followed the entire Japanese figure skating team with love, awe, and respect as part of my new hobby. These are all supremely trivial things in the face of real tragedy, but it's where I'm coming from.
So I wish I could give much more than I can, but in doing this I might inspire more giving?
This is my thread. I'm offering a Tron or Figure Skating fan fic of at least 3k.
(I can't offer Jonas Brothers. I'm broken when it comes to them. :( I wish that I could though.)
