Is there intentionally not any Madeline L'Engle on there? Because if you just haven't read her, I think it would be right up your alley.

I've never read anything by her. I'll have to look into that.

Well here are four authors I don't see on there that I really like:
-gregory maguire: wicked, confessions of an ugly stepsister
-jaqueline(sp) carey: kusheil series
-garth nix: sabriel,etc.
-philip pullman: golden compass series

and i agree madeline l'engle is great. If you don't mind reading science fiction, here's another:
~orson scott card: enders game

hope this helps!

Okay, there's this author, her name is P.C. Cast. She's got 2 different series and they are awesome. The first is her Fantasy series which the books are

Divine by Mistake
Divine by Choice
Elphame's Choice
Brighid's Quest
Divine by Blood (coming in 2007)

These books are fantasic.

Her other series is in the romance section but it's about Goddess' or whatever. They are great. I'm not sure how you feel about romances but they are good too. Those books are...

Goddess by the Sea
Goddess of Spring
Goddess of Light
Goddess of the Rose
Goddess of Love (Coming in 2007)

I hope that helps!

Amy

You read Lene Kaabersbol? You rule! You're the first person outside Denmark I've met who's ever even HEARD of them! But yes, they are good, I completely agree :-)

Other authors you might like, based on these:
George R.R. Martin
Terry Goodkind
Sherry Jordan
Raymond E. Feist

I got bored with the Pern books as well, but then tried "Crystal Singer" by Anne McCaffrey and LOVED it.

I found The Shamer's Daughter at my library and I had to know what happened so... I think at the time I read them the second two books weren't even out in the US... I think they came from Great Britain when I ordered them off of amazon. Its fun ordering books from overseas.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely have to try that Anne McCaffrey book.

Ah, Wrede! Very cool. Have you tried her Lyra books or the Sorcery & Cecelia series (the 1st is the best) with Caroline Stevermer?

I haven't yet. I keep forgetting to add those to my to read list! Searching for Dragons was my favorite of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles... I read it so many times the binding broke!
