Stanley, the 1940's

Feb 28, 2019 23:03

There's a lot of information about Stanley from this decade that invites speculation.

After he got out of prison in Georgia, he decided the Merchant Marines was the best option for work, and he traveled frequently. He formed at least one relationship that had a lot of trust, as he was given power of attorney for Ernest Lovassen.
He, for unknown reasons, ended up in Michigan after years as a Merchant Marine and met my grandmother. Soon after, he was married to her and she was pregnant with my uncle. He got a position working for W.K. Kellogg as a building manager/engineer and formed a friendship with Mr. Kellogg, along with O.L. DeBolt. (Both listed as references on his resume)

This entry will detail the facts of the 1940's, my next entry will discuss the stories my mother remembers about this time in his life.

Questions from this decade:
- Who is William F. Jordan?
- Who is Mary R. Knight?
- Who is Ernest Lovassen?
- What brought him back to Michigan and under what circumstances did he meet Velma?
(According to my mother, Stanley met Velma while she was a waitress at a restaurant in Battle Creek.)
- What traveling did he do right before my Uncle Nolan was born?
