I first and foremost must say that I have the best friends and
boyfriend. :) Thank you to everyone who called me, wrote me, sent me
cards, and/or came into town and wished me a happy birthday -- it truly
means the world to me. And I think with the older you get, the more
appreciative of those you have around you who truly care about you.
That said, I really did have 'the best birthday weekend ever.' Bob and
I had Joe and Kristy over Friday night and they brought dinner, an ice
cream cake (I've eaten too much...), and their boxer for Jasmine to
play with (although Jasmine's first boxer buddy Liston will never be
outdone, Thalia!). Dexter serves as a good replacement Liston anyway.
:) So we grilled out, played some music, drank margaritas, and went to
bed. Then when I woke up early the next morning, although Kristy and
Joe were already gone, they'd left me a sweet card and a UNC chip and
dip set...it was too cute and thoughtful.
Saturday Bob and I cleaned all day and did stuff around the yard, then to my amazement, he surprised me by taking me to
Angus Barn,
the cutest restaurant here in the RDU area. He had it all pre-arranged,
which took me by surprise. :) So we dressed up (which is few and far
between these days), and over dinner and right before the main course,
he pulled out an envelope that had a 3-page letter to me -- a love
letter, I suppose (which is something we don't exchange on a regular
basis). But basically, it was the sweetest thing I've ever read and
definitely the most beautifully written piece that's ever crossed my
eyeballs. So, to make a long story short -- it made my entire night and
if it's possible to fall back in love with someone you're already in
love with, I did that Saturday night. (This time I'm not gonna
apologize for being sappy because I needed it badly.)
On Sunday, Bob took me to Best Buy to buy me a digital camera and I
absolutely love having one again! (so hence, the reason for adding a
picture to this entry). Then we went to Linens n' Things and bought
ourselves a new duvet set and pillows for our new bed. I love it -- The
house is slooowly becoming more lived-in. I'll take some pictures of it
tonight for those of you who haven't seen it. It's seriously become my
life lately, taking care of this house. But it's certainly one of the
best investments I've ever had. Sunday night Bob's mom and brother had
us over for dinner and she made my grandmother's recipe: blueberry
buckle with vanilla ice cream. So that was very sweet -- reminded me of
home. Now Bob's gone for a few days, and I've gotta head to the MIL's
tonight to finish leftovers from last night. I'm going to turn into the
Goodyear blimp before too long here, if I keep eating.
Here is a picture of my comforter set (hehe). Also, below is a pic of
me, Elio (coworker), and Jan -- cutting my birthday cake at the
wonderful office party. Think: Milton! Gotta love the cake ceremonies
in the office (although they're not anywhere near as lame as the old
parties at Harcourt with the lame personalities we had there).
(This is the paint job Bob and I worked so hard to complete).
Office space with lots of cake.
Talk to you all soon -- and again, thanks to everyone! I'll post pics of my house tomorrow.
