we have to still believe that even the smallest chioces make a difference. If they didnt what would be the point..thats rhetorical im feeling postive.

i remember coming back from an anti-war protest in London a while back now. There were group of lads, you know the type, typical lads lads, stella in one hand abusive gestures in the other...well anyway, i was holding my idealistic
'true freedom can not be enforced it must come from within' sign so they clearly knew id been on the protest. On of them chirped up while stumblig across the road in a drunken stupor that i was 'a god damn tree-hugger' and that he hoped 'a bomb would drop on my head'. pleasant young chap, intelligent with it so i immediately took offense of course...
my reply 'damn straight im a tree hugger what exactly do u think allows you to breathe, live, on this earth?!' fool.

sometimes, in fact most days i look around me and wonder when the hell its all going to end, we cant keep living like this, development encourged by competition 'who can provide another service' another type of bottled fucking water, cheaper pointless products 100 and one of the essentially the same shampoo...nose shaped pencil sharpners, spam flavoured bubble gum, lipstick with extra gloss because your worth it, is it worth it? Youve got to ask where does it all go? burried underground...
we've got to start thinking about the big picture, short term policies may decide votes for politicians but we are cleverer than that surely? Yet im as guilty as most. There are so many external forces (adverts/expectations and definitions of 'beauty'and wealth) surrounding the environment within which we live that perhaps the human mind has 'evolved' to need to change our appearances, to need to identify ourselves by what we purchase. has our path already been determined for us or do we still have some control over how we choose to live? the survival of the fittest in todays terms often means those able to exploit the poorest, exploit labour, exploit resources, the cunning, the confident? Meanwhile the middle income people survive thats for sure, but wheres the living in surving?...
