The Bump Goes on Bedrest

What a week! Last Monday I had an unexpected trip to the OB office because of some cramping that had been going on for the weekend. The office practically demanded that I be seen that afternoon. My blood pressure was up a little at the beginning of the appointment, but that was attributed to anxiety. The doctor that I saw seemed to think I was stupid for having come to the office, and after checking my blood pressure again, sent me out the door. Thursday I was at work and just started feeling wierd. I decided to check my blood pressure and it was through the roof. I monitored it for about an hour at work, but it never came down. My charge nurse sent me out the door and to the doctor. My pressure at the doctor was up, and I was sent down to the labor and delivery floor for monitoring. Keep in mind, the cramping was still going on. After about an hour on the monitor, the nurse came in to ask me how I was feeling. After I told her I was fine and in no pain she told me I had been having regular moderate level contractions. After several hours, I was given a medicine to stop the contractions, and sent home on bedrest. The next day I was put on home health, told to check my blood pressure 4 times a day, my weight every day, my urine for protein, and to use a contraction monitor 2 times a day. The next day I went to the doctor again for a non-stress test, and was told my bedrest could be modified. Only 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour a night on my feet or out. No work or housework, and if my blood pressure went back up, I would be back on strict bedrest. So right now, I'm on my outing for the afternoon. Pray for us as Randy does not have a job, and I am now on unpaid leave. I have to go to the doctor 2 times a week until I deliver. Thank goodness for insurance! On a bright note, through every test, our precious little girl seems to be doing great!
