School

This is why nursing is the hardest major at UA:

1.I have a 15 week course that has been condensed to 7 weeks. Not only is it "Care of the Complex Client" (ICU), it is a W course. That means I have to write 2 papers. Plus my midterm is a week from today!

2.4 years (or 5 for me) of school comes down to basically 2 tests: the exit exam and the NCLEX. I have 3 chances to pass the exit exam (first chance Feb 9 PRAY FOR ME!). If I don't pass, I don't graduate. The NCLEX is the licensure exam. I can't take that until I graduate, and I can't be a nurse without it.

3.By the day of my midterm, I have to turn in a whole bunch of work (a different class).

4.My weekly schedule is Monday-Leadership 9:00-12:00, 1:00-3:00; Tuesday-Complex Client 9:00-12:00, 1:00-4:00; Wednesday and Thursday every other week-Clinicals in Bessemer 6:30-3:15; Friday-Prep for Licensure 9:00-12:00. What time I'm not in class, I'm studying, working on group projects, writing reports, doing case studies, and taking practice tests.

5.The week after the first exit exam, we have a group presentation in Complex Client that is like 20 or 30% of my grade.

6.The first report is due 2 weeks after the first exit exam.

7.The Monday after the first exit exam, I have a test in Leadership. Quizzes and Independent studies are due this day as well.

8.I have a mental/nervous breakdown at least once a week.

9.Preceptorship starts in March with all classes except Complex Client then shifting to online. During the preceptorship, I basically work without getting paid.

But referring to last week's post, it's all worth it because I know what I am called to do with my life, so I know God will give me the strength to do it. For those dear friends that I miss seeing, I'll see you after I pass the exit exam!
