Technical Tables

These tables are for the more confident writer, or anybody who wants to try something new. You can choose any prompts that you’re not already using for a different table. So if you skipped the Romance Table, you can use any or all of those prompts for these two tables. And if you traded out Storm for Hurricane on the weather table, you can now use ( Read more... )

So, I've got a question about these. Along with the actual tables, we also have to use prompts as part of the tables? ...If that made sense :\ It as worded really poorly.

*giggle* it's okay, I think I know what you mean. You have to use mission_insane prompts, but you can pick any prompt you like from any of the prompt tables. So, to use Lana as an example (the author I share my journal with) she's not doing the Crime table, but she liked the 'Murder' prompt (her claim is for a character who is a serial killer). So for POV 1st person, she's used the Murder prompt from the crime table. Basically it's a way of claiming any prompts that you like when you don't like the rest of the table they're in :D

If that makes sense :P

Okay, I think that makes sense. :) If I get super-confused later, I'll just ask.

Question - the size matters table is 30 prompts. Does that count as one table, meaning we will complete 220 fics if we choose that one?

yep, the challenge with that one is in the amount of fics, since you can use practically any prompt :D

Some of us (me) haven't had an English class in a while. Refresher on those points of view? ^^;

Hi there

1st person is like "I did this, I walked down the hallway,"
2nd person is like the old make your own adventure books, "You walk down the corridor, you see this,"
3rd person is probably the most common, "Peter watched as this happened, he poured the tea, she was unhappy, they like cheese"
Inner monologue is pretty rare, which is one of the reasons I put it in, to get people to experiment. It's literally what's going through someone's head as something happens, not always linear. It's just literally a case of, get into character, then write whatever pops into your head.

My pet author decided to do this table, so if you want examples (Please be aware though, they're ALL NC-17) here's the table and there's another inner monologue (also NC-17) here

hope that helps :D

Yeah, I usually write my crap stories in third person, and I was pretty sure I knew what first was. I don't think I've ever heard of inner monologue before, guess because of the rarity. Sounds like fun, though. :D

I'm picking my tables but I'm having a difficult time with
Fumblerules
Understanding it. Could you Please Pretty Please *bats eyes* give me an example using Harry and Draco just a few lines.

To be honest the examples you neeed are all there...if you're not understanding it I would avoid that part of the challenge and pick something else.

I have a question regarding the fumblerules.

Will I have to write 35 sentences based on one prompt, or do I have to use 35 different prompts, one for each sentence?
