I can't remember the name of this fic or who wrote it, but I hope someone will recognise it...
The pilots work for the preventers when Heero goes missing and some time later he reappears on Duo's sofa.
Whilst Heero was missing the doctors experimented on him and gave him superpowers, this leads Heero to believe he is now dangerous and runs away as he does not want to hurt Duo. Duo hunts for Heero and Heero tries to keep him away. In the end Duo allows doctor G to experiment on him and give him metal wings so he will be equal to Heero and Heero will stay with him.
