Straddle benches are demonic inventions, I tell you. Summer Beginning Drawing classes are wearing me out, and I haven't felt like doing anything goal-related. Have some foreign films I'll watch soon, some e-books to read... Bleh. Anyway, Week 21 has come and gone.
This week, I:

If you can get a hold of it, Chen Kuo-fu and Gao Qunshu's The Message is an incredible thriller. I saw it at filmfest in the spring, I don't know if it's been released in general in the US. Sorry :( Hipsters (Stilyagi in Russian) is a great musical, a little bit goofy. You've probably already seen Amélie, but if you haven't, do watch it :) Likewise for The Red Balloon and Au Revoir, les Enfants.
Wow that was a lot. I got a little excited.

Unfortunately, I'm limited to whatever foreign films are scheduled on the Sundance Channel or available for online streaming at Netflix - still trying to find more sources for film viewing! Luckily, Au Revoir, Les Enfants is available for streaming so I'll be getting to that soon. Thank you for the rec!
Stilyagi looks happy-colorful, so I'll be sure to be on the look-out for a chance to see it. (I love films that either go all-out with happy colors, or use colors smartly.) I found very little info on The Message, but anything that gets rec'd is automatically given more weight when I decide between any movies I find, so maybe I'll come across that one at some point too.
I've seen the others, although not in a few years. Especially La Ballon rouge (if that's what you're talking about), which I don't think I've seen since I was a weester.
