4th update!

Oct 03, 2010 19:39

I've realised that I haven't done an update on the community since October 18th 2009!

I hope everyone else is still working at their lists.

Despite a year passing, I can only say that I can sign off 10 extra tasks from before.

October 18th 2009 I was on 23/101.

1. Get into University and Survive the first year.

I've been studying at Uni of Nottingham. I managed to survive the first year, just about. I had to resit a few modules, but i passed comfortably as I had more examination experience.

4. Work in an engineering environment.

Over summer I worked for the company that is sponsoring me through university. This gave me a good insight into how companies in this area tick. Before my only real experience was in a retail environment.

24. Be able to code in one of the following languages: C/#/++, java, perl, python.

As part of my degree, I had to learn C/++. If i had more time, I'd like to play around more with code.

43. Attend a wedding.

My girlfriend's brother got married. First wedding i've ever been to.

51. Reach 10,000 twitter posts.

I reached 10k tweets. I dont seem to use it as much as i did a year ago, or certainly not as frequently. I do like to spam a fair bit during F1 weekends though about the race/qualifying.

61. Be able to write a report up without having to look up how/what to include.

I've been having to write a hell of a lot of reports as part of my degree as there is usually at least 1 laboratory a week.

64. Subscribe to a profession journal.

In the field of electrical engineering.

66. Don't drink any caffeine drinks whatsoever tea/coffee/coke/energydrinks/coke for 21 consecutive days.

This one was fun. I had to think when would be a good time to do this. During termtime I admittedly binge a bit too much on energy drinks and coffee, especially when it's approaching examination periods. Over summer I was having to wake up at about 05:30am each day as I had a stupendous commute and would undoubtedly be wanting a coffee then. I decided to go caffeine free right after the end of the summer examination period as I didn't start work for another 3 and a half weeks. It was surprising how much of a habit it was to want to grab a coffee. Hardest moment was Sunday morning with freshly made pancakes and the smell of fresh coffee.

69. Vote in a general and local election.

I actually got to vote in a general, local and European election. Hadnt had the chance to vote before as I was not eligible to vote. (too young)

86. Get a steering wheel for racing games on pc, or on a console.

I did. Admittedly I don't use it much. It takes up a lot of room, and a desk isn't the best furniture to attach it too. Chairs with castor wheels when using pedals means you keep pushing yourself away from the desk also. Shame really.

Things that are still progressing

25. Print and frame 5 pictures that I have taken.

3 photos framed, only 2 more. I could get this done rather quickly but I'm not sure where I'd put them.

37. Read 20 Books [7/20]

Some of you will be like, 20 books? I read 20 books a weekend! I don't. For me to choose a book and dive right in is a pretty unheard thing. I've been reading Neil Gaiman's books lately as I've been commuting a lot. Maybe I'll get this done now I commute for about an hour each day?

93. Try 100 different wines.

I'm on 83 out of 100 now. I'm still a member of the wines and spirits society at university where i get 6-8 wines a session which run weekly. I can see me finishing this rather soon. :D

97. Scrobble 20,000 tracks on my current last.fm account.

Currently on 11634/20000. This took a hit as when I was in halls the last.fm scrobbler couldn't handle the firewall and therefore could not update at all.

33 down, 68 to go!

Full 101 list, with updated progress
