I've been working on my list for a month now, and I've actually got more done than I thought I would -- possibly because it's new and shiny, and probably also because it's a holiday right now. I've got thirteen completed, and (I think) eleven in progress. :D My list is
here.
I just completed two that came really high on my list, to do with skin care and remembering to brush my teeth. My skin is much improved, I'm happy to report, and my teeth are starting to look really good for the first time in years. I'm going to keep both these habits up, because they have been good for me, and because I've realised they're really not so tedious as I thought they were.
Yesterday I completed the one about sorting my books into alphabetical order. I now have them in four sections: fantasy, sci-fi, general, and poetry, all of which are sorted into alphabetical order by author -- except The Mabinogion: I'm not quite sure where to put that!
The one about participating in a win for Robobeasts was surprisingly easy. The side I fight for on it tends to lose, see. There was some talk about the other side forfeiting that round, but I did end up fighting quite a few other beasts on there, so I'm counting it. ;)
The fic clichés community I wanted to make is up and sort of running. :D I asked people to contribute, and got some good contributions, and then it was just a question of doing coding. Now I'm having trouble getting people to join -- it's a fanfiction community, and the idea is that people claim whatever and write fic for it based on the usual clichés that always crop up -- good fic, obviously, not the usual crappy fic. The other new stuff I tried with it was making a fully adaptable system where people can design their own tables. I'd say it's catching on, but I only have about four or five claims listed all in all, which isn't enough to judge! It's over at
notagain_again, anyway.
I tried a new thing at a restaurant when we went out for my birthday. It was Chinese. :) There were these lettuce wrap things that I avoided, last time, but I tried them this time -- and they were delicious, so maybe I should learn to do that more often. :p
Since I had my hair cut, it's started curling beautifully all on its own, so that one was easy to accomplish. I fear straightening it will be tougher.
I'm so glad that I've already managed to convert three people to loving The Dark Is Rising. It's my favourite set of books ever, I think, and I'm actually rereading the sequence myself right now. :)
The good conditioner I found on the recommendation of a friend of mine. It left my hair feeling lovely, so I called it a win right away.
The one about shopping, but not spending anything, was accomplished by going shopping with my mum. I didn't have to spend a penny. :p
Looking up someone from my junior school was looking to be difficult -- I hate myspace, but I was thinking I might have to use it, at least for a start. But at my friend's birthday party I saw Bex, who was one of my closest friends back in junior school. :) She's very, very Christian, even more than when I knew her, so I didn't talk much about my relationship with
feywood, but it was nice to talk to her. Apparently she's doing some kind of cruise around the world for two years, so it'll be that long before I see her again.
And finally, the one about going to the cinema -- I went to see Transformers with my fiancée. :D It was fun, even if giant robots aren't usually my thing. She loved it, anyway.
And now onto the ones that I've got in progress. God, there's so much to say for only having been going a month. xD Anyway, to replace the ones about skincare and brushing my teeth, I have two more health related ones -- drinking five glasses of water a day for a month, and taking a multivitamin tablet every day for a month. Obviously, I've only just started those, and need to actually find my vitamin tablets. :P
I also started the task of sorting all my computer files today. I've only done My Pictures, but that was time consuming enough. I did find some really cute pictures, though. :D The ones about money are going equally well: my money box is far from full, but there's a decent litter of coins along the bottom of it.
I've nearly finished the task of listening to five singers/bands I don't think I'll like. Actually, three of the four I've listened to have suddenly found permanent places in my iTunes, so! KT Tunstall I mentioned in my last update, but since then I've listened to The Cardigans, which my Dad recommended, and Thea Gilmore, which last.fm recommended. I didn't like The Veronicas, but that might've had to do with my sister playing the CD ceaselessly for twelve hours straight. On the same note (ho, ho) I went to a concert while my fiancée was here: Tegan and Sara, at the Cockpit in Leeds. That was awesome. :) I'm going to see Seth Lakeman (third time) and Karine Polwart (second time) later this year, too.
Laptop-wise, I got £500 from my grandparents for that, so it's happening. Soon. I'm hesitant because I don't want Windows Vista. Really don't want. But maybe I'll just get an XP package.
Final Fantasy games-wise, I'm playing FFIV GBA -- I already played it, for the PS1, but I want to play the GBA extras. :)
Aaaand finally, I got my first of three poetry books for that goal. I got The World's Wife, by Carol Ann Duffy, which I love.
Unfortunately, quite a few of my goals will have to wait another year, because I'm not going to university until '08. (Long story as to why, but I must point out that I didn't fail and I do have a confirmed place for '08. :p)
