(Slightly late) January 2012 update

My first month update! This is quite a long one, as I made a start on a lot of my daily/weekly/monthly goals.  I've also decided that for the goals that involve breaking/changing/creating a habit, the goal is complete if I succeed more often than I fail - the idea being that I will be motivated to keep trying.

Goal substitutions
I've also created 4 more goals:
- Practice and improve forwards clockwise crossovers (Ice skating)
- Buy a colander (Acquisitions)
- Take more time off! Have 5 days holiday left on 1 January 2013 and 1 January 2014 (Work)
- Complete at least 1 goal each month (And finally...)
These replace the 3 blank spaces I had, and the "Complete a Rubik's Cube" goal.

Goals in progress
1. Keep a personal diary for at least a year - I've started this, but I'm very good at starting diaries and not so good at keeping up with them.  I'll revisit this in my June update (if I remember!)

2. Write something good that happened in a personal diary, one a week for at least a year (4/52) - Done every week so far

3. Keep a Mission 101 diary - Written in it every day so far

4. Write monthly Mission 101 updates on LJ (1/33) - Obviously doing this now!

8. Continue with creative writing - Written 3 short stories for therealljidol

13. Finish writing another 101 things by the end of 1001 days (5/101) - I've had a few ideas.  Obviously this list won't happen for another 2 1/2 years, so they may have sorted themselves out or not be relevant then.  But they are:
- Eat breakfast every day
- Read a newspaper / news website every day
- Wear earrings every day
- Bring own lunch into work for at least half the working week
- Replace money withdrawn from savings account as from 1 January 2010

14. Start Photshopping again - I've designed 2 Christmas e-cards and entered them into a competition at work. I'm unlikely to actually win, but I've started regaining some of the techniques I'd forgotten.

23. Do exercises to improve turnout every day (31/1001) - Done every day so far

27. Paint my nails a different colour each month for a year (1/12) - 29/1/12: Painted nails a light purple colour called "Dosado" in my Strictly Come Dancing nail varnish set

28. Use contact lenses when going out - Been out with friends a couple of times in January.  I used the contact lenses once and the other time was straight after work, so I think I can be excused.

30. Sort out sleeping habits (21/1001) - I went to bed at or before my set times more days than not

32. Stop napping during the day (10/13) - Wow. I've succeeded more times than I realised.

39. Eat at least 3 portions of fruit/veg every day (25/1001) - Succeeded more often than failed so far

42. Arrive at work and leave work on time (18/19) - Done every day apart from 1 so far

48. Keep a daily spending diary (31/1001) - Written in it every day so far

50. Have 20 days (not necessarily consecutive) without buying anything (1/20) - Done on 5/1/12

58. Wear/use everything bought in January 2012 sales (5/11)
- 5/1/12: Wore Uniqlo patterned leggings
- 10/1/12: Wore Sketchers trainers
- 23/1/12: Wore Accesorise hat
- 24/1/12: Wore Uniqlo striped top
- 25/1/12: Wore Next polka dotted skirt

80. Watch all of my unwatched DVDs (1/21) - 28/1/12: Finished watching my Charmed Season 7 box set. It helped that I was already halfway through it.

82. Donate 1,000,000 grains of rice at http://freerice.com (7,180 / 1,000,00) - Donated 7,180 grains so far but I'm beginning to think that 1,000,000 is an unrealistic target. It means I have to donate an average of 1,000 grains a day and obviously I'm nowhere near that. I may revise the target down to 500,000 or 100,000 later.

83. Click on www.thehungersite.com every day (31/1001) - Done this every day so far

86. Try every flavour of coffee available in London (apart from chocolate and/or nut flavours)
- 12/1/12: Starbucks vanilla spice latte
- 14/1/12: Starbucks caramel macchiato
- 29/1/12: Costa Coffee gingerbread latte
- 31/1/12: Cinnamon toffee latte from coffee shop near work. (My favourite so far!)

87. Read 101 books by authors I haven't read (1/101) - 27/1/12: Finished The Deadly Touch of the Tigress by Ian Hamilton

101. Complete at least one goal every month (1 / 33 months) - 2 goals completed in January
