Honeymoon [for Meredith]

Nov 06, 2011 01:59

Sean had been mildly concerned that the day after the wedding spent getting their few affairs in order might serve as something of a disconnect, separating the big day from the week of relaxation (among other things) ahead of he and Meredith ( Read more... )

Meredith laughs, brow raising. "Will I ever hear the end of it if you don't?" she asks. She knows it's traditional and all, though she doesn't fully get why she can't just walk through the door herself, but she's in too good a humor not to be willing to go along with it if he wants to, no matter how silly it is.

"Hell no," Sean cheerfully replies before he bends over to slowly pick her up off her feet. Even with all the levity, it's a significant thing to him, silly symbolic gesture that it is. "Ye should be wearin' the dress."

All Meredith can do is laugh again, head tipping back, even as she slips her arms around my neck. "Oh, my god," she says. Ridiculous or not, it's still kind of fun, if only for a very short distance. "I wasn't going to wear that around all day just so you could carry me through a doorway. Did you want me to go change first or are jeans gonna do?"

"It might lesson the effect t'have ye runnin' in an' out beforehand," Sean chuckles, pulling her in for a kiss as he carries her across the yard to their door and forces it open without actually using his hands. "Jeans'll do foine, 'm sure. Maybe once we're inside, though."

"Right," Meredith says, "absolutely not." She's thankful for what Ianto made her and it's served its purpose well, but its time has come and gone already. The wedding was everything it should have been for them, but once she wanted to get married, she always cared more about being wife than a bride. Leaning in to kiss him, she grins. "Satisfied now? Is everything all neat and official?"

"More so, I s'pose," Sean says, affecting a slight pout as he kicks the door shut behind them before he cracks into a grin. "What's ta make this diff'rent from all the other times I've gotten ye out o' yer clothes, though?"

Meredith laughs, head falling back. "What," she asks, "were the other times not good enough? I thought they were pretty good. But, you know, I'm always open to suggestions." She gives a kick of her legs, nodding toward the bedroom. One way or another, she's not staying up in the air forever.

"I believe I've a'ready given it," Sean smugly replies, even as he acquiesces to her wishes and takes her carefully into the bedroom. "Though the other times were pretty bloody fantastic as well, I'll grant."

"You want me to put the dress back on?" Meredith asks, brow arching, shaking her head. "I thought you were kidding. But if that's what you want..." She has no objections to wearing it short term for a good cause.

"I was kiddin'... mostly," Sean says, biting his lip on a grin as he sets her down on the edge of the bed. "What c'n I say, ye looked good in it."

"I did, that's true," Meredith says lightly, inching back a little. She's glad Sookie thought to suggest a camera or she never would have thought to get one herself, and now they'll have pictures of it, no matter how impromptu the wedding was, and they both looked good. So the white dress thing wasn't a terrible idea, maybe. That's as far as she'll admit it aloud, though. "Better than out of it?"

"I wouldnae necessarily go that far," Sean chuckles as he sits himself down next to her and kicks his shoes off. "I'm jus' sayin'. I was so tired last night after everythin', I didnae get t'appreciate gettin' ye out o' the thing nearly so much as I should've."

Meredith shakes her head at him, leaning over for a kiss. "Still appreciated it," she says, then gets back to her feet. It's absolutely ridiculous, she feels a bit stupid for even considering it, but in the end, she really sees no reason not to. Regarding him with narrowed eyes, she sighs, holding up a finger. "Just this once. And then the dress is retired, so make sure you enjoy it properly this time."

"Really?" Sean asks, sitting up as she backs away, his face lighting up like he's a kid in a candy shop. He'd anticipated having a good time of things, of course, but already they're off to a banner start, as far as he's concerned. "Oh, I will, b'lieve ye me."

Meredith covers her face with both hands, stifling a laugh. "You're ridiculous," she informs him, though this is hardly news to either of them. "You are. Yes, really. Okay." It's their honeymoon, and if there's any time to act like an idiot and maybe even enjoy it, it's this. Besides, the way he looks makes it just about worth it as she heads over to gather up her dress from where it's been left to lie neatly over a chair, as close as she could get to putting it away last night. "This is very strange."

"The way I see't, there's nae a thing that's happened these past couple o' days what hasn't been, least on some level," Sean confesses, still beaming as he tries to find somewhere to avert his gaze (for some bizarre reason, it just strikes him as wrong to watch her change into the dress). "An' if I'm ridiculous, then what does that make yerself?"
