I really miss dreaming.
Those were the first to go when I stopped sleeping.
First thing to come were those attractive bruises under my eyes.
It used to be so easy, I'd go to bed at 12 or 1 and up at 7. That was enough sleep. Now I'm lucky if I get to sleep by 4. REM just doesn't kick in. I read in a dream book once that serious mental problems occur when one doesn't sleep.
"After three nights without sleep, the average person complains of itchy eyes and begins to see double. He is unable to count past 15, cannot concentrate on any one subject for longer than a few minutes, and begins to lose his sense of balance. He also feels lightheaded and begins to hear a buzzing in his ears. In some cases, if loss of sleep continues, the person begins to develop marked paranoid symptoms."
Yes. That seems accurate. And what if you do get sleep, but never make it to that Deep Sleep state?
"They became nervous, irratable, and erratic in their behavior, and slept badly and uncomfortably."
If I were somebody else, I would definitely blame my sucky personality on my lack of sleep.
I don't mind being awake so much, but there's only so many hours you can amuse yourself before you have to admit you're bored. Books are only good until you can't focus on any one word and you realize you've read the same paragraph sixteen times. Movies last only so long as your attention span. Computers don't last long at all; headaches ensue much too quickly. This is probably why infomercials are so popular; they're short, on tv, and mildly entertaining. And they're so god damn hopeful.
That minute hand takes so long to go around that little disc.
