St. Valentine was a christian priest who secretly married couples in a time when the emperor of rome had decreed the cancelation of any marriage in hopes to get more young men to enlist in his army. As a result of this deceit,on feb 14, about the year 270, Valentine was beaten to death and his head cut off.
