Trying to be a good blogger

K, so first post in....... fifty billion years? :) I let the LJ slip. For, like, a year. I know, my bad. Work doesn't really allow time like it used to to update the old LJ. But I hung out with Gina last night, and we were talking about how GOOD it is to blog.

So. Well first, we actually don't have two dogs anymore. We got a Golden Retriever over the weekend, thought it was a good idea, took him home only to find out that Brody absolutely hated him. There were bad fights after the first day, and we had to keep them seperated. We ended up finding him a good home with a 13 girl and 8 year old boy with a HUGE backyard who do ministries for children, so he'll have a good, happy, well-loved life, more of a life than we could've given him. It's so much different with a Golden than a Lhasa. Brody can be kept in his pen and be fine with it. He's an apartment dog, totally. But not Coby, as we had named him. He was a HUGE 2 month old puppy. He needed much more love and attention, and a house without an aggressive dog. Anyway, by the time we left yesterday, the little boy had already re-named him, and they were rolling around together on the front lawn. I feel like we did something entirely irresponsible by getting the dog, but at least we found him a good home. Chris was pretty heartbroken to have to give him away, as was I. But we had to think of what was best for the dog. And for Brody.

Speaking of Brody, today is his BIRTHDAY!!!! He is officially one year old. And guess what? His mom might be pregnant again (just found out like 30 minutes ago). Shows what those vets knew... he's a happy healthy pup. Dog. Whatever you want to call him now :)

Work is awesome. I'm 1/2 compliance work and 1/2 fiscal work now. Which is interesting because I never thought I'd work with math. But I like it. And it isn't complicated. Invoices and checks and donations and such. We moved offices from North PDX to SW PDX back in October, and I share an office with three of the funnest people ever. We have good times here, and a balcony that we can open the door to in the summer (it's open right now, so nice!). Chris has been at the bank officially one year, and loves it. He's been promoted up, and is close to being a supervisor but probably not until next year. His supervisor had all of the employees over to his house for a company barbeque a few weeks ago; he's got a pretty nice crew to work with :)

I'm almost at my goal weight. Mmm... two more pounds to go lol. And of course they're the hardest to lose. But whatever. I just keep running. I run 12-13 miles a week, and participate in any 5k I can find out about. I friggin' love to run. And I don't eat crap food anymore. It's amazing how refreshed your body feels when you're eating right and exercising. Kudos to Gina to kicking my ass at the gym last summer to get me in shape. No excuse to be fat! NONE! lol.

Oh yeah, we also moved. Again. Surprise, surprise! We moved to a townhouse in Milwaukie, something like 1,200 square feet. It's practically a house, only we're attached to another house which happens to belong to my co-worker :) It's like a little family community and I love it. We're seconds away from TWO tracks and have a big backyard... plus it's a short walk down to the Milwaukie Farmer's Market, which is really nice. I've planted squash, romaine lettuce and wildflowers in our garden this summer. The yard needs a lot of TLC (weeds and no grass, just dirt). It's nice to finally have a place with two floors and a garage. The space is amazing and hopefully this summer there will be some bbq'ing going on :)

Married life is excellent. This year has been by far better than last year was, and we're really enjoying each other. Without the stress like we had last year, too. I can't believe we've been married over two years. It seems like it was yesterday. Chris cracks me up more and more every day. He's got perfect timing, and is always making me smile :) He got a new car (we traded the Eclipse) and now has his Mustang, like he wanted forever. Granted it's not an old one, like he really wants, at least it's a Mustang :) He's pretty happy.

K, so there's no way I can catch up on a year, but there ya have it. That's, in a nutshell, what's recent. Yeah, it does feel good to blog again. And, my break is over. Wheeeeeeeee!!!

Love & Light,
Mary :)
