but i'm almost half way through A.H.W.O.G.S. and you're right, it is great except for his too often talking in the what will happen tense which is tiring but i liked and am just past the story he told the girl about his brother not being at the bar because he's hitchiking to the Dakotas even though it's clearly because he's 8 years old.

yeah anyway, i think this is why i don't like your point about caring for strangers the same as you care for your friends- cuz your loved ones should have a part of you, and it should be more than the part of you given to strangers thas about the sum up
and i like dave eggers' word usage, too- if i read it all the time, i'm going to start talking in excessively intelligent words, like "ubiquious"
and i read "the practice of the prescence of God" by brother lawrence, this lay cook (read: monkish but not quite monk-y kitchen worker) from forever long ago. and its funny cuz it's hard to read, but all he repeats is basically- i set myself to do all things for the love of God. start by asking God before i do something, then once while im doing it, then again when i finish. repeat for 4 years until i become accutely aware of God's prescence always with me, and even then it's not a feeling as it is a seeing. in those times that i fail to ask for God, i immediately apologize, and move on- having confidence that God will do as he promises. doing things on my own is a dishonoring of God, and moreso a distrust of him. that last part is what hit me most of all, though larry doesnt even emphasize it.
so i've been doing that for the past few days, and it's going pretty well. 3 years, 354 days left, i guess. (oh add a day for leap year... 355 days left)
but yeah, dont make out with the girl, dude- you'll just beat yourself up over it even more, and cause everyone needless pain. plus come on, i listened to you and didnt make out with the girl when it was there- you gotta listen to me heh.
