So I created a document to organize all my ideas for fetish porn or erotic scenes I could potentially film. Some are pretty PG-13 where the most we see is a guy's bottom. Other stuff is more graphic though I haven't gotten to anything involving female nudity. I think if this becomes something I can do long-term, I would like to get to the point where I am filming full-on sex scenes. However, for now I am focusing on specific fetishes as well as the psychological, social and aesthetic aspects of kink.
What I'm learning in the creation stage is that it's pretty much the same process I use when I write vanilla scripts. Create a list of possible scenes/shorts/series/films. Pick one and elaborate. Once a full outline is done, break down into scenes. Then start writing the scenes.
The difference is that my thought process for such erotic content seems to be different. I realize that I am basically transcribing fantasies that I make up in my head all the time. It's incredibly easy! It's probably the most inspired and easy writing I have ever done! I can't believe I never thought to do it before (except in the form of literotica). I basically decided I would skip summaries, narrative, treatment, anything like that and just... write. See what comes into my head.
I opened up the screenwriting software I normally use, wrote in a location and a very brief description of the characters and settings involved and just went to town. The fun part about the scene I wrote is that they are having a very normal conversation the entire time. She asks him how work was, he asks her how school was (he is an older man, and she's college-aged). The entire time, she is inspecting him, complimenting him on his suit. Then they begin a ritual where he massages her feet, kisses them and things escalate from there. It was a lot of fun, because all I had to do was close my eyes and imagine I was either person and the words just came to me. It's never been so easy to flesh out characters. They say write what you know, so I guess I am just a horn dog!
I found myself having to try really hard not to write too much description. It's a big no-no in the screenwriting world, and as a director I'd say it is a particular pet peeve of mine to read someone's script and they have written too much detail where the writer *should* have just left such decisions to the director or actor. However, I find it difficult to find a balance doing this for something erotic because so much of the action is what the film is about and not what they are saying.
I am going to have to just find a balance. I guess since I am directing these anyway, the only people I have to worry about annoying is the actors. I think the balance I will have to reach is that I will probably get a little more detailed in terms of action than I would on a vanilla project. However, I will still leave out any indicators of emotion, as that is something the actors need to have leeway with so they can be "in the moment" on the set. I can correct from there as director, not writer.
The hardest thing will be choosing what to shoot first and with whom. So far, I know a few people interested. Some are willing to show their face. Some are not. I think the first thing I shoot will be less graphic and will show the actors' faces. I think it will be important to get a feel for what I am doing and where I want to go with future films. It is going to be interesting figuring out how graphic I want these films to get, so I find it comforting that I can shoot short-form projects (since most online clips tend to be 8-15 minutes anyway) and each one will be an experiment in what sort of feel my movies will have. It's all pretty exciting.
An interesting note. I have about four vanilla men who I call my "right-hand" guys on set. They are the first ones I go to when I have any sort of project coming up. Whether I need a camera guy, behind-the-scenes photographer, sound guy or Assistant Director, these boys are pretty loyal and almost always available if I give them enough notice. I told them I was going to try making some fetish films. I told them these flms could be graphic, that this was not traditional bleached blond porn star stuff, that it would probably involve some things they would find weird, but that it was something that meant something personally to me and that I felt it had potential to make $ too if we approach it professionally like we do all our other projects.
Three out of four were all for it. One said he was too uncomfortable with the subject matter. To be honest, I was surprised only one bowed out. One, I have always suspected was kinky. He is always curious to see my toys, but I won't let him look at them because I think it would upset his girlfriend. One is just very open-minded and I think would enjoy indulging his curiosity. The other, I believe is a closet submissive, so it will be interesting to see what he thinks of my scripts! My friends are awesome and I am glad to know I won't have to be working with an entirely unknown crew, as so much of this is already going to be new to me.
One sub fellow, who I have been friends with on CM for a couple of years now, has been really helpful. He has been in a few different films already (kink.com and a new series that a couple of So Cal Pro Dommes started). His input has been invaluable and he is already giving me leads on locations and even latex fashions we can borrow from designers for the film. This is frakking exciting, guys!
