Went to see Ian McKellen read Tolkien, Shakespeare and whatever else he felt like at the weekend. He was generally awesome and waved his sword around lots, and my regularly acquired small person sat quietly and behaved through the whole thing. He laughed in all the appropriate places before asking us what was actually funny, but stopped caring when provided with lollies.
His father stressed me out horribly by being ridiculously disorganised and not deciding until the very last moment that the small person should accompany us. I'm thinking maybe I won't buy tickets to see things in the future because it's just not worth the drama.
Stress is leading to lack of sleep. I have a polytech assignment due in on Monday and it's all going to be a bit last minute. I remember now why I hate assessed writing so much now. I have tomorrow afternoon off work so I can work on it, though, which means I am functioning as a semi-coherent loon rather than collapsing as a complete wreck. The joy and privilege of life-long learning.
