think before you say "I do".

For the past week I have been quite obsessed with 'Wicked'. Yes, the musical that is the prequel to 'The Wizard of Oz'. It is one of the best musicals I've seen - the set is fabulous, the music and the songs are just undescribably super!

So anyway, I had been looking through Youtube for more Wicked-related clips and interviews and behind the scene stuff and came across this video of Idina Menzel (who played Elphaba in the Original Broadway Cast) giving a 'wedding advice' (she used to be a wedding singer):

I almost fell out of my chair laughing because I know first hand that people seriously think that "Saving All My Love For You" by Whitney Houston is a wonderful wedding song. Just because the song title seems lovey-dovey, it doesn't always mean that it's a wedding song!!

I've been to weddings where I'm asked to sing and since it's not like I have a list of wedding songs that I remember off by heart, I'd always go up and ask the wedding singer what song I should sing (because you also don't want to sing a song that's been sung).

Countless times, I tell you, countless times that song was suggested to me. And thank heavens I *know* that the song is about INFIDELITY and is therefore COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE to sing in WEDDINGS! I mean, come on, how would you like someone to sing an infidelity song at your wedding reception!?

So I'd usually give the wedding singers a "WTF?!" look, tell them what the song is about (they probably don't understand what they're singing about most of the time - since the lyrics book is riddled with wrong lyrics anyway - not that I can blame them too much because English isn't their spoken language), and then flick through the lyrics book again in an attempt to find a song that's well,.. at least not about infidelity.

If this happens to be new information for you, please do spread the word and be a part of a movement that makes sure that couples start their wedding day/night without any means of infidelity.. song-wise.
