Well. Hanson. Goddamn! I saw them in Atlanta and in Birmingham. I'm still really scatterbrained and I don't really know where to start. The minor details are kinda boring. But….
ATLANTA-
We got to the venue around 3p.m., just in time for the walk. (so we thought.) but it turns out they had changed it to 2p.m. so we sit around for a while, get some pizza, hang out with my friends. Then they open the doors. Sarah, jenny, and I all go up to the balcony to half watch/half ignore. Once The Veronicas got on stage they caught my attention, because those are two of the HOTTEST girls I've ever seen in my life. And one of them screams when she sings and it's enough to make me grow a penis and cum in my pants. DAMN! Anyway…..
Hanson got on stage. They were amazing! (as always.) during the first song Isaac got pissed at someone in the crowd. And you could kinda read his lips.. Something like "I don't fucking care………..don't do that anymore!" I think he was talk to this group of "moms" (middle age ladies) who were being cunts and locking arms and not letting anyone get around them, and elbowing someone in the face.
So yeah, their set was great. Sarah and I danced and screamed lyrics as much as we possibly could. And after the show we walked out satisfied and smiling and tired, squeaky and hungry. We went to waffle house and I ate some bacon, then we went to Jessie's and talked to her and slept on an air mattress. (that was surprisingly comfortable.) We finally went to sleep, woke up, took showers, and we were on the way to…….
BIRMINGHAM-
We stopped at an ihop and I was very sad that they didn't have cheese blintzes. (I always get that at ihop.) anyway, we ate then eventually arrived at the venue, around 2.
Hanson came out, and Taylor starting talking about the walk, and what the purpose is and why it's important. So we all began out mile, most of us barefoot. Everyone stopped halfway through so they could talk some more, and while half the crowd waited for the other half. Taylor stood on top of a picnic table and while he tried to tell everyone else to cross at the corner and not in the middle of the road, there was a funny conversation.
Taylor: you know it's probably not the best idea for us to stand under this tree in a potential thunderstorm.
Me: Taylor, you do realize you're standing the highest, so you'll probably get hit first.
Taylor: ::laughs:: and I am holding this big metal thing.
(he was holding his megaphone.)
So after they talked (I pretty sure I recorded at all.) we all continued the walk.
Eventually I ended up next to Zac, and kept trying to get the chance to talk to him…well, finally at the end of the walk I got the chance, and it went something like this….
Me: Hey Zac. I just wanted to say I really respect what you guys are doing. I was homeless for about a year, and I was traveling around and I still told a lot of people what you guys are doing and hpw amazing it is…
Zac: ::just kinda stares at me for a second:: Oh wow. Thank you! That's amazing!
Me: I just, ya know, I hoped they listened to me.
Zac: I'm sure they did.
He sticks out his hand for me to shake. And I shake his hand.
Zac: You're not homeless anymore are you?
Me: No, I live in Athens ga now, and I just came from new Orleans….(I don't really remember what else I said, I think I said something about hitchhiking and riding trains.)
He just looks at me for a second and then hugs me, out of no where. It was really random, it totally caught me off guard.
I say goodbye to him, then walk off towards Sarah who got a picture, (because she fucking rocks.) and smile and try not to brag, because I know she was a little jealous, although she wouldn't admit it.
After then finish talking, everyone sits down outside the venue, and I wonder around, Sarah naps in her car. Finally the doors open, the hot girl ban plays, I drool, we wait, Hanson comes on stage.
I must say that this show was better than Atlanta, I guess because they seemed a little happier, and they setlist was amazing!
I must say, when Taylor played Love Me by Elvis as his solo I nearly melted at that piano part. Fucking amazing!
There are no words I could use right now to describe it in the detail that I would like too, so I guess I'll just leave it unsaid.
We left Birmingham exhausted but satisfied and happy. The drive back was long and boring, but since sarah is so incredible she didn't fall asleep and kill us on the way back, even though I suck and fell asleep. We got back at 5a.m and I had work at 9:30 and Sarah had class at 9, but we did it.
And now, even though my voice will never be the same, I'm happy, I'm content, I'm satisfied. The 10 year old girl that used to anxiously giggle inside of me is now put to rest. And even though the the 21 year old me doesn't think it's that big of deal (but it pretty fucking cool) that I talked to Zac Hanson, the 10 year old is happy, and finally able to put her 11 year dream to rest.
