to all who are concerned
I have been having a hard time getting back to everyone who has been trying to get through to me but I just wanted to send out a messege to say that we are fine and feeling super lucky to have so many amazing friends and family members around offering their love and support.
For those of you who don't know, last thursday night at around 2:30 am my apartment caught (or was set) on fire and we had to run out before really knowing what was going on. By the time I realized our apartment was on fire I could not go back in. we had left the door open but my kitty Pixel did not make it out in the end. It is quite apparent that she was not taken by flames but rather passed out from fumes which is at least somewhat reassuring. We will miss her dearly.
Afterwards the firemen helped us back into our apartment to salvage the few ash-covered things we thought we could rescue (not much). I got 2 oil paintings out but they are coverd in muck. If anyone knows how I can clean them I would be much obliged. Quite a few of my drawings survived since they were pretty well tucked away and my computer seems like it's going to be okay as well.
If any good can come of this I would encourage everyone to prepare a fire/disaster escape plan and consider a "go bag" with food, h20, extra clothes and copies of important documents or data in the car and house.
