Summary: Remus doesn't hate that Ravenclaw bird, honestly.
Gryffindor Tower is cold as Remus readies himself for bed. The four boys spent the day out by the lake scheming, finding themselves enchanted by the sunlight and green trees. The chill lingered, but stifling summer heat would soon descend upon Hogwarts Castle.
Remus is pulling on a night shirt and definitely not kicking his socks under his bed. This particular evening he finds himself contemplating Sirius' most recent conquest. He, James, and Peter had agonizingly spent the last three days listening to Sirius prattle on about snogging Evie Mackenzie, the petite brunette in Ravenclaw, in an empty classroom on the fourth floor. Apparently Sirius adores her-- or, as Remus imagines, adores her impressive muggle record collection. Maybe Sirius neglects to remember that Remus owned Dark Side of the Moon long before Evie seeped into Sirius' life.
It's okay though because Lily still refuses James' advances and Peter won't desert his mates. No, Remus isn't lonely, honest. Really, he doesn't hate Evie Mackenzie's guts.
Remus looks over to see Sirius slipping into his four-poster and place his wand on the nightstand, looking all together too desirable than can be good for Remus' sanity.
Remus climbs into his bed as well, reaching to close his curtains.
Just before Remus extinguishes the candle between his and Sirius' beds, he sees more than hears Sirius' quiet "'Night, Moony." before Sirius laid his head down to sleep.
Remus' last thought that night before he falls into an uneasy slumber is the realization that he'll never have that which he desires most. He mouths silently to himself in the dark, "Goodnight Sirius."
