alright livejournal friends, you're my last resort tonight
i've just smoked a bowl and lit the cigarette that tends to follow
and now i sit here in my little apartment tip-tappity-typing away with no particular purpose, but feeling that i might as well spend some time rambling to someone if i don't havethe option of having someone here to ramble to
a computer makes for an excellent friend at these times
i've been listening to a jazz radio station all night
and ijust heard a song
with some of the most beautiful lyrics i've ever found myself relating to:
Here we are
Out of cigarettes
Holding hands and yawning
Look how late it gets
Two sleepy people by dawn's early light
And too much in love to say goodnight
Here we are
In the cozy chair
Pickin' on a wishbone
From the Frigidaire
Two sleepy people with nothing to say
And too much in love to break away
Do you remember
The nights we used to linger in the hall?
Your mother didn't like me at all
Do you remember
The reason why we married in the fall?
To rent this little nest
And get a bit of rest
Well, here we are
Just about the same
Foggy little fella
Drowsy little dame
Two sleepy people by dawn's early light
And too much in love to say goodnight
Do you remember the nights we used to cuddle in the car
Watching every last falling star
Do you remember the doctor said my health was under par
And you my little shnooks
Were ruining your looks.......so
Here we are...keeping up the pace
Letting each tomorrow slap us in the face
2 sleepy people by dawn's early light
Much too much in love to say goodnight.
(instrumental)
Well, here we are
Just about the same
Foggy little fella
Drowsy little dame
Two sleepy people by dawn's early light
And too much in love to say goodnight
thank you Hoagy Carmichael for that beautiful, beautiful piece...
