[Looks like Zoey's discovered the viewing room on deck 9. Apparently, she's taken full advantage of it and has been going through all the old horror movies she can get her hands on. The communicator shows her sitting in the dark, only the glow of the communicator illuminating her face. She's accidentally turned it on while reaching for the popcorn ( Read more... )

zoey, can't you socialize like a normal person, +gideon, isn't this a trope somewhere?, if this were a bad horror movie..., +kevas, +gavin

That wouldn't happen to be the Spectacular Spectacular, would it?

Huh? The only 'Spectacular' I know is that dorky song my mom used to sing from that one musical.

[She laughs a little.] But no, this is just an old sci-fi flick. With aliens or something.

So exciting doodoo doo....[She eats a bit of popcorn]

What? No, no. I was referring to the name of the theater. The Spectacular Spectacular used to be haunted, but uh... recently that's been taken care of.

[A pause]

You mean this theater. The one I'm sitting in... has ghosts in it?

[There's some shuffling noises as if she's sitting up. She speaks with a smile, and a note of amusement in her voice, but it all seems slightly strained.]

Um, well. It used to have a "ghost", a girl named Jennifer. But recently all the passengers have locked her up in Carnival, so it's safe again. No worries!

Jennifer? Are we talking about that serial killer little girl who liked to skewer people?

[She laughs nervously. Oh good. Good. not haunted anymore. I'm safe. Because we all know how safe this boat is.

[There's a pause as if she's stopping to look around the theater.]

Oohhh mannnn... I really did not need to know that. At least with zombies you can shoot them in the face and hey, that's all done and over with. But with ghosts? How the heck do you kill with a ghost?

Easy, easy. The theater has been locked up as far as I can remember, and I've been here for ten months or so. If the locks are gone, you're fine. She's gone and so are the problems.

[The "I didn't mean to scare you" is unspoken but entirely evident in his tone.]

[There's the sound of her settling back down in her seat, and the sound of shuffling like shes grabbing the bag of popcorn and setting it back down in her lap. Still kind of edgy, though.]

Yeah... you're... probably right. And besides, even that were the case, I shouldn't scream so much. Wouldn't want to be the screaming girl- she's always the first to die..

[She pauses.] Gideon right?

Hey uh... how you been since the uh...?

Relax, I wouldn't let'cha die.

[As for her next question, Gideon pauses and sucks on his teeth. He's a bit touchy about that.]

Better, definitely. Anything's better than givin' up the ghost. Got scolded a bit, but other than that I'm fine.

I figured as much, since the first time we met you were babysitting a bunch of kids in trouble.

[Her grin fades and her voice lowers a bit.]

Seriously - how come you're not mad? I'd be royally pissed off.

Mad about what? About dying? That was my own damn fault. Can't be mad at anyone else for that. I mean, maybe Erol, but getting mad at him would be counterproductive and probably just lead to another death. I'm tryin' to keep out of that cycle.

That's bullshit! Your fault for ... dying? You died?

[The shock lingers for several awkward moments. She's heard about being revived if that happens, but talking to someone who actually died is... too disconcerting. She eventually recovers though.]

Well, you were just trying to do something right because some other guy was being a creep! What were you going to do, wait until he did something to the two kids?

Why isn't he getting punished?

ixgideonxi June 25 2010, 23:47:23 UTC
Yeah, I died. Erol's a trained military fighter... I went in knowing that I didn't have much chance of coming out alive.

And I'm not saying that he was in the right--oh no. There was no way I would let him get to the kids, that's why I put myself out there. He isn't getting punished because I hit him first. S'one of the rules on this boat. You hit first, you get the punishment.

I guess that makes sense... but still.

What a load of crap.

[She sinks down into her seat, frustrated as she mumbles.]

Ugh, I'm really starting to hate this place.

Oh, trust me. I've been here for almost a year and I still hate it. You sort of learn to accept it, though...

Don't suppose anyone you know got brought here too?

LJ why you do this? missgenresavvy June 26 2010, 00:03:57 UTC
Well that's real encouraging. [There's no real malice in it. Just a bit of resignation and a grim smile. It can probably be heard in her voice.]

Well Francis is here too. We went through some really bad things together back home. So it's doesn't suck as bad as it could, I guess. Though I had to catch him up to speed because he didn't know a lot of things he should have.
