"Nooo! She's not hot or shady or old or interesting enough! You need to be superficially shipped with Laura Roslin in some crazily implausible but yummy xover AU in my mind!" LMAO!!!
*nods* Yes, 'Teh Sex' is my personal fave. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that the positioning of the text and the font I've used really highlights her gorgeous curves. Oh, and I like to call it my "The sass, the class and the ass!" icon (to quote Jack on Karen).
Democrats do rule! Now if we could just get ourselves a Bartlet to fight in the next election and a CJ or a Laura to look hot while supercompetently doing political things on tv, things will be perfect.
Hee, it's true, now I seriously ship Laura with everybody!! Any character is always better off in Laura's presence. I spent most of today watching my TWW S5 dvds, and I entertained myself by musing about what all the characters would think of Laura if they met her. Me thinks I have a problem. *grins*
Those are lovely! May I snag the second one, I'd credit when I used it...
And I still maintain that Bush had been given a sadative before the news conference today. He was ranting and incoherent, moving about the podium unnaturally...
Yes, of course you can, snag away! I thought that one would appeal to you, actually. The text and its sentiment just randomly came to me, and it is SO accurate, fitting the way we see her.
I didn't get to see his press conference, though I want to, just to see him being all freaky and cranky about how everyone's realised just how dire he is and are now doing things about it. I'm hoping one day he'll short-circuit and it will be revealed that he is in fact a robot. In that conference, he was probably all "Democrats won things? Does not compute. Does not compute."
hehe, just sent off chapter 9 to the betas... I'm finally out of material from the original fic, now I can't steal from myself anymore.
I totally love that Laura will do such dispicable things... and mean so well by them. I'd totally be scared shitless of her in real life.
As for Bush... I think that his advisers told him he was going to loose the house, and he didn't really believe them. I kind of think they might have thought they'd only loose by a few seats, not 20ish. He started out humble and apologetic... and than he slipped into old habits the longer he was on the stage. At one point I thought he was going to say the American people didn't get it. He came damn close. I think his words were something like, "I thought the American people would understand. But the American people have spoken and we have to abide that."
The entire thing screamed lame duck to me. And reaked of whatever sedative they gave him to calm his nerves. He was obviously on something.
This is the main thing I adore about BSG, that its characters are so complex and inhabit so many moral grey areas. I love that Laura can do dark things with the best possible intent, and I like that we don't particularly get her angsting all over them. I mean, we get small glimpses of her being sad about them and sometimes doubting her choices, but in the end she stands by them and is extremely pragmatic about it all. She's just, well, almost a force of nature.
As I said to someone else, I spent today wondering what each of the West Wing characters would think of Laura if they met her. It was very interesting to think of her from Leo and Josh's pov, for example.
Woah. He was really like that, live on tv? *sighs happily* Aww, the administration is so totally screwed I could dance for joy.
You need to be superficially shipped with Laura Roslin in some crazily implausible but yummy xover AU in my mind!
man! i do that too! my latest crazy idea is that laura roslin'd make a great counterpart to james "sawyer" ford, from lost... they'd be just awesome together. :) and i also ship her with indiana jones. i think that's the craziest thing evah!
