Apart from the presence of Mary, the other reason this film slays me? It has some of the most stunningly beautiful cinematography I have ever seen. I'm so glad the guy who did it won an Oscar.
It does sadden me to realise that had this film been made today, Kevin Costner could still have starred but you just know somehow they would have cast some young vapid starlet as Stands With a Fist. Thank God for the Nineties, they gave real woman good parts back then.
