'Darling, if you danced like an elderly elephant with arthritis, I would dance the sun and moon into the sea with you. I have waited a thousand years to see you in that frock'
Okay, so I'm totally editing the post to put that gem in there. I can't believe I forgot it! I remembering underlining it in my copy. Damn, I need to read HHC again. :)
Every now and then I just have to start reading them from the start again. NEVER GETS TIRED!!! Srsly. I picked up SP when love of my life went off to study in this foreign country at a place called Balliol College, and my friend said something like "OMGYouMustReadThisAndYouWillLoveitSoSoMuch<3<3<3' She was right of course.
I always turn to them when life is grinding me down. They never fail to pick me right up. I do love them so! Even if I don't have time to read a lot of the book, I've got stuff marked and underlined, page corners marked, so I can just dip into it and instantly feel better. Haha, that is perfect! Ah, Balliol. You have such a wayward fictional alumnus. *grins*
I know, I know. You can just read a tenth of Busman's Honeymoon and feel the endorphines flow. The problem with the read from start to end is getting to BH (LOVE!!!) and wondering 'is it worth reading Thrones Dominations just to continue the love a little further....
When you consider Balliol ALSO get Sir Humphrey and Uncle Monty (from Withnail & I), LP is like, a totally respectable fictional alumnus! However I do hope you have seen this, which hangs in the Buttery there: http://archives.balliol.ox.ac.uk/images/Portraits/168.jpg
BH really is just LOVE in book form. I may or may not have actually hugged my copy once *shifty eyes*. That was the only reason I read T,D. It really was a case of "Need....more....Wimseys..."
Indeed I have! A very snazzy portrait. And now for some reason I'm just imagining those three drinking together. XD
Thrones Dominations is all right -- you can try to figure out which bits were original. And I've reread bits of "Presumption of Death" more than once. But you know you're hooked when you've managed to find a copy of the play of Busman's Honeymoon and all of the Wimsey Papers from the war...
