"going out" in random cities across america is a really interesting experience. having suggestions from a native obviously makes the experience more enjoyable, but having a chaperone really makes for a good (and interesting) time. katie simon was of course fabulous in new orleans, but last night with the PBR marketing guy, woody, who we were basically set up with in atlanta was ridiculous. we started off at a sort of rocknroll bar with a band that at times sounded like no doubt and at others india arie. next stop? the infamous
clermont lounge (note: citysearch winner for places to be on your worst behavior. clearly a real jem)...the perfect combination of dive bar and seedy strip club. we convinced the *star* dancer to play a little toby keith. yes. miss BLONDY STANGE stripped to 'i love this bar'. woody had sealed the deal as star tour guide when he broke a ten to make sure each of us girls had dollar bills. god knows we needed them. final destination: monday nite karaoke!!! woody clearly didn't know what he was getting himself or the
star bar into, but man was he a good sport. joining candace, diana, and erica on stage for mariah carey's "always be my baby": 50 points.
when we go out places with our posh new accessories--wireless mics--we often get a few questioning glances. usually we get approached by a few people a day, and if they seem like they would be into the whole roadtrip nation project we tell them about it enthusiastically. however, if the 'curious' person is just a sketchy guy who thinks 'hey, why are you wearing those mics?' is a good pick-up line, we sing a different tune. our current favorite story: we are on this new dating show on bravo called 'three's a crowd.' JUST THE THREE OF US. (we have to stress this part in order to attempt to send the message that it is a lesbian dating show...no one has figured it out yet). the game ends basically like elimidate where we each pick someone @ the end of the night, and if a pick lines up a match was made! sadly, everyone is too excited by the prospect of us being on tv (cause it is such a HUGE deal to be on a reality tv show!) that our pitch does not deter them. basically, we need some new material. send some suggestions my way!
