I think the more time I spend trying to be inside William Morris's head the less able I am to participate in the simplest discussions about current affairs and the like. For some reason I can't stop relating everything anyone brings up to Morris's Socialist Utopia Future. Considering the sweet man's sweet visions of a sweet little communal Europe where governments are run on politeness, volunteerism, and manly vigor were outdated when he was first espousing them in 1881, it's unsurprising that they continue to be irrelevant to, say, a discussion with Alyssa about conflict zones in sub-Saharan Africa.
On a geekier note, I downloaded Caslon Antique--the font favored by Morris for all his publications at Kelmscott. Do you think anyone would notice if I wrote my thesis in it?
