After six months, John's beard was getting extreme. A few hours after a long search in the woods and another fight with the weird energy monster, John found himself pushing Teer off his lap with a heavy heart and walking out of the cabin into the night.
No one was coming for him. He was going to be stuck in the weird Zen world someone uncreative might call One Life to Ascend To and show before General Hospital. Not that anyone would watch because damn, were these people boring as hell. Three times a day, John napped instead of meditating with his group. He worked out alone by the well every afternoon, knowing he was the only person capable of fighting the energy beast and not feeling quite like dying before Rodney was able to get him out of this special homespun hell.
But Rodney wasn't getting him out. Which meant there was no reason for John to have rejected Teer as angrily as he had. The thing was, John wasn't mad at the prescient ancient who claimed to be saving herself for him - though cobwebs had crossed his mind more than once during that conversation. No, he was mad that no one cared enough to come find him after so much time had passed. His own team had left him behind!
There was no thinking about whatever time he'd missed in Fandom since the last 'gate dial to Earth had provided him email, that road led to insane math problems scratched into mud and dirt outside the hut - equations the kids were always asking him about. Like they really cared once he explained the numbers had nothing to do with their higher plane of existence.
Then they just switched the conversation to trying to get him to come along on the journey of ascension.
John so hated this place.
[NFI, NFB. SGA 2.12 Epiphany is so my least favorite episode.]
