Somewhere in Palo Alto [Tuesday Fandom-Time]

Turning 20 was no big deal. There was no special advantage over 19 other than the beginning of a new decade. And then Mitch had planned some crazy party involving beer pong and a helicopter cake (thank you Sandra Lee) and nearly cried over the lack of enthusiasm from the birthday boy. John didn't even know.

To make it less painful, he'd called Gavin and found out the guy was still on Earth and, luckily, enticing his friend to town with the promise of a gathering full of free beer and female cadets had been all too easy. Mitch had been thrilled.

Turned out it was lucky Gavin was staying with them, or John would be wobbly dragging Mitch back to the apartment all on his own. "Oh god, not again!" John complained as Mitch lurched out of John's grasp to vomit his guts out all over some formerly pleasant foliage outside the complex.

Honestly, it was pretty funny to watch and John laughed at his roommate like someone intoxicated and easily amused. "If he breaks his hand again punching that tree, no way we're dragging him to the ER. Quick, someone flash him!"

Such a kind and thoughtful soul.
