You know a vacation to me is, like, laying on the beach for 20 hours of the day and drinking frozen drinks and maybe riding bikes and maybe playing Putt-Putt. So I might forget some things and have to add them later, because this trip we did TONS of stuff. And I'm just not used to trips like that!

thursday.
- cuban lunch at la fonda, sitting outside
- walk-through of agnes scott with susan as tour guide, including getting a stranger to let us into the dorm susan lived in her first year so we could see her old room

- shopping at my new favorite bookstore (susan got the new rebecca walker and i got the new anne lamott and the next day when i started reading it i realized it was signed)
- walk-through of little five points
- movie, notes on a scandal
- dinner at eats

friday.
- brunch (early lunch? but we had breakfast food) at the flying biscuit (oh my GOD it was delicious - we had eggs and bacon and things but susan got an oatmeal pancake with peaches and i got the raspberry french toast and it was all amazing)
- walk-through of the martin luther king memorial. has anyone else seen that? it was really impressive. you can walk through the visitor's center, which is where there are exhibits and interactive things, but then there's also his burial ground, which is in water and stunning, and the church, and auburn avenue where he grew up. we walked around for a long time, taking it in. the day was slightly overcast but still nice for walking.
- walk-through of the botanical garden, which i loved (of course). the feature is orchids, and they're stunning.

- dinner at our way cafe, where susan got to talk to her friend that buses the tables and then we sort of felt sick from eating so much food, but it was delicious
- ben wakeman at eddie's attic - we sat on the stairs and there was a good handful of kids there being, well, pretty well-behaved overall, but slightly rowdy, and ben wakeman's son (who is maybe 10) played a bluegrass song with his dad at one point, and for the rest of the show sat next to us, and b.w. had a friend come up and sing harmony with him, and at the end i bought a cd (the overall distance)
- athens boys choir and ... i can't remember the name of the group that was second ... dixie something ... anyway did a show at little five points that we paid SIX DOLLARS to see (seriously. six dollars.) and the spoken word was amazing and susan got a cd and we listened to it today driving home.

Whew, I'm worn out - but it was fun. AND I have a whole day to get ready to go back to work...

Oh Susan Elizabeth, you enrich my existence. Again.

susan, travel, go see live music, books
