Because our services are evolving at work an we're taking on new clients with different needs, I have been able to set my schedule at work to something more fitting to me. Two nights a week I work in someone's home teaching him to be more independent so that his mother can move out and let him live on his own.
The work I do with him requires me to work after our normal hours, so I've decide to work in the building in the mornings and go to his place directly after. This gives me a free day during the week that I don't have to get up and go to work.
It's great because it's a middle-of-the-week break to let me unwind. The kids go to school, Tim's at work. No one is around to make many demands of me.
I do spend some of the time dealing with household stuff and I schedule appointments on those days as well, so it's not ALWAYS extremely relaxing, but it's still nice to have that time to get it all done.
Lately, I've decided that it's time to pamper myself beyond what I already do. So at least once a month, I have been going to get manicures and/or pedicures.
I'm really in love with the shellac mani. It's dry before you leave, so there's no tricky fumbling around when it's time to pay so you don't smudge everything. And it LASTS. When the girl said it would last two weeks, I was skeptical.
I'm TOUGH on my nails. Normal manicures are marred by the next day. I was my hands a lot at work, do dishes by hand, tap my nails nervously, bang them against things in my clumsiness... You name it. But other than nail growth and a wee bit of chipping (only over the last two days), this stuff stayed put and stayed pretty.
I went back to have it done again today.
So now I guess I can kick ass, take names, and still be girly all at the same time!
