50 FOOT WAVE

Excitement...!!!!

Just another tuesday at the office, and my cell phone lights up out of the corner of my eye.. "Kristin Hersh is performing live tonight at Music Cafe..you coming?"

HELL YEAH! ..and so as the day drags by, excitemnet mounts, and at the staff meal after work my social skills are tested to the limit. I WANNA LEAVE! my mind shouts as as i politely make conversation. Oh do excuse my rudeness, but i must dash... and i'm outa there like a flash, skipping cheese and biscuits, making a bee-line for the parking lot.

At the Music Cafe - as ever Mat's already waiting eagerly. The support bands are ace, if you ever hear of 'Misty's Big Adventure' playing anywhere, they put on a great show.
Stood around chatting to Bernard - Bass (formerly Throwing Muses) and Rob - Drummer for a while, and then the performance:
“the most visceral, convincing and goddamn rockingest rock songs Hersh has written for years… 50 Foot Wave is an entirely thrilling, utterly unexpected blast out of the blue” - Uncut
“back on blistering form” - NME
“a noisy and welcome surprise” - The Observer
“cranks up a punky guitar frenzy… fuelled by wounded fury” - New York
to quote but a few.
It was ace, and me being me - had to have my CD signed, my photo taken with Kristen and her gorgeous baby-boy!

And then there was the groupie - Matt from Chicago. What a character! - he'd been traveling with the band for the whole tour - and still had all of Europe ahead of him. he needed a place to crash, so he got a block of cheese our spare bed. my good deed for a weary traveler.
!!fucking ace night!!
